FAQ

What are the daily hours of camp? Camp runs daily from 8:30am until 3:30pm with before and after care available. Drop off and pick up is a Badger Gymnastics.   

Can I register my child online? Yes you can!  Please click here to register online.

What do the themes mean? The themes provide focus and direction to each week of camp while still incorporating a variety of sports and activities.  

What is a typical day at camp like? A typical day at camp is full of great activities to keep the campers busy! Please click here for a sample schedule

What is the cost for 1 child? Each session costs $225.00 per child. If you enroll in more than one session, the cost is discounted to $197.00 per child. By enrolling for the entire summer, campers will save $195 off the enrollment fee by paying $1775.00. 

What is the cost if my other children want to join? Is there a discount? For families with more than one child participating in camp, an additional discount if offered for signing up for the entire summer; this price is $1675.00 per child.

Am I allowed to pay in installments if I am signed up for the entire summer? You can pay in segments two weeks prior to your child’s session. It is the policy of Swim & Gym to hold a credit card number for all families who are making payments on their balance. If you do not wish to give a credit card number, we require payment in full. Please contact us for more information regarding the payment schedule.

What if I’m not comfortable giving my credit card online? Our site is on a secure server and all credit card information will be encrypted when in transit to our email. If you are still uncomfortable signing up online you may bring payment along with registration forms into the SwimWest front desk.

Is there a discount for signing up early? Yes. If you sign up before March 31, you will save $25 off your total. This is a one-time savings. There is one discount offered per family.

We are Universal Members at SwimWest. Does that apply to the camp also? No.  SwimWest and Swim & Gym All Sports Camp are two separate companies.

What is the camp refund policy? The office must be notified two week prior to the commencement of a session.  Swim & Gym will issue a refund of any unused portion of the payment, less the non-refundable $50.00 registration fee. Please contact the staff at SwimWest if you need to cancel your camper’s session. They can be reached at 831-6829.

Is lunch provided? No. Each camper must bring a nutritional lunch everyday; however healthy snacks will be provided. There will not be an opportunity to purchase a lunch and vending machines will not be available to the campers.

What happens on rainy days? The campers will be outside as long as it is not raining or lightning. In the event of severe weather, we will take the appropriate actions and relocate campers to a safe area in the facility. Indoor activities include card games, board games, other fun creative games, and arts and crafts.

Where do the campers go if threatening weather occurs? There is a safe area at SwimWest if the campers are playing on the Sports Court or are in the pool. Badger Gymnastics is air conditioned, and the sports camp staff will pay special attention to the heat index and threatening weather conditions for outside play.

Will sun block be provided? We ask that parents include sun block in their children’s backpacks for the day. Counselors will assist in re-applying sun block as needed throughout the day.

Can I request that my child be in the same group with a friend? Yes. Although camp is a great place to make new friends, we can put specific children together. Please write that special request on your registration form.

What is the minimum and maximum age for the camp? The minimum age is 5 years old by the start of the camp session, and the maximum age is 13.

My child is almost 5. Can he/she start camp early? Unfortunately due to state regulations, we cannot allow any children under the age of 5 years.

My children’s ages are 5 and 8. Will they be placed in the same group? No. We group the children by their age.  

Can I sign up for camp over the phone? We cannot do phone registration because we require a parent/guardian signature on the Registration Form. Registration forms are available on the website for online registration. You may also sign up in person if you wish.

Is there before or after care? Yes. All before/after care is available at Badger Gymnastics. Before Care begins at 7:00 am, and After Care goes until 6:00 pm. You can use the service as you need it from day to day. The cost will be $6.00/hour for the first child, and siblings are $4.00/hour.

Can my child only attend camp 3 days a week? That is a possibility; however we do not prorate the cost of the 1 week session. You must pay in full for the entire 1 week session, even if you cannot be here everyday.

What if my child misses a day of camp? Can we do a make-up day? No. We do not offer any make-up days for the camp.

Will the campers be taking field trips? Yes. On Fridays the campers will be going on a special field trip. Examples include bowling, hiking at Governor Dodge State Park, visiting the Henry Vilas Zoo, and trip to a Mallards Game.

Is there an additional cost for the field trips? The cost for all of the field trips is included in your camp session price.

How do you determine the level of swimming or gymnastics for the campers? We ask that if the child has any previous swimming or gymnastics skills, that you note their levels on the forms you will be filling out. If not, we will evaluate all campers on their first day to place them in the proper class for their skill level.

What if my child’s skills advance throughout the summer? We will accommodate all skills over the summer. No camper will be held at a level which is below their skills.

If my child attends camp, can I still enroll him/her in swimming lessons? Yes. The children will be swimming everyday at camp, but if you want to have additional lessons you can also enroll in SwimWest’s summer session.

Can my child bring a walkman or a hand-held game to camp? We ask that campers keep all personal electronic items at home. They will not have an opportunity to use them during their day at camp, and we don’t want to see any special items lost or misplaced.

What if my daughter hates basketball and does not want to participate in that sport while at camp?  We will try to accommodate your child’s needs; however, one child not participating makes it difficult for the entire group. It’s best if all campers can learn the different activities together.

Will photographs be taken of the campers? Yes, we do take many pictures of the children throughout the summer during various activities at the camp.

How do I request that my child NOT be in any of the pictures? There will be a special Release form in your Waiver packet where you can authorize that request.

Who do I contact if I have a question about my child or the camp? The Camp Director this year will be Stephen Schaffenberger or the owner Karen Kittelson. They can be reached during the week at 831-6829.

How qualified are your counselors? All Swim & Gym Counselors go through an extensive training program set by the state before camp begins, and are certified in CPR and First Aid. Background checks are performed on all counselors and coaches working at the camp.

Do I need to provide a swimsuit for my child for the day at camp? Yes. Please be sure to pack your child’s swimsuit and a towel everyday for camp. If your child has a cap and goggles, please pack those too. If not, SwimWest will have some available.

What if I need to contact my child during the day? How do I know where to find him/her? You can contact SwimWest at 831-6829 and we will tell you where your child is, or will be, at a specific time. On the first day of camp you will be given a contact card with the camp director’s cell phone number, who you may also contact. 

How are the children transported between SwimWest and Badger Gymnastics? We have hired Middleton Bussing to drive the campers between facilities. The campers will never be transported by coaches or counselors.

What is appropriate attire for camp? We ask that you dress your children in comfortable “play type” clothing, as they will be very active throughout the day, and to dress them for the weather. Also, please have them wear a hat or a sun visor everyday, and wear sneakers opposed to any type of sandals.

Does my child have to wear the camp shirts? Yes, each child will be given a sports camp T-shirt that should be worn on Fridays for field trips. Otherwise, the camper can wear the shirt any day they want to. We anticipate that the child will have so much fun that they will wear the shirts even while not at camp! The registration fee covers your shirt. If you would like additional shirts, please indicate that on your registration form, with an additional $7.00

What happens if my child gets ill during the day? Like the school requirements, we will call the parent to have the sick child picked up. If a fever is noticed, the child will have to stay home for 24 hours after the fever goes away. These are state guidelines to help protect the spread of illness through the group.

Is the camp Daycare licensed? Yes, Swim & Gym All Sports Camp is Daycare licensed by the state. We are required to follow all of their regulations.
