and we'll respond as soon as possible.
- What is the cost of joining the SwimWest Sharks? The cost for is $13.00/practice when registered for an entire session. Any additional practices are $10.00 each.TOP
- How many days per week are we required to swim? You can sign up for one practice
(the one day per week has to be the same day every week and they must sign up for an entire session) or you can
practice up to 6 times per week. TOP

After you register for your initial practice day, any additional full-session registrations for team are $10/practice. Registering for a full session
guarantees you a practice time, whereas doing a drop in practice does not. TOP
- Can we do drop-in practices? Drop-ins are definitely allowed and enouraged provided: 1) There is
a spot available in the practice you would like to attend. 2) You are already signed up for a full session of practices on a different day.
3) You call ahead to secure your spot, as some practices may already be full. The drop-in fee is $10/practice for registered swimmers,
and $13/practice for unregistered swimmers.TOP
- How many children swim during each swim team time? Up to 10 swimmers are allowed per practice time.TOP
- Do the SwimWest Sharks swim by the season or follow your sessions? Our swim team follows the same
sessions as our learn-to-swim levels. There are 4 sessions per year that follow the seasons.TOP
- Do we get a discount for having multiple children on swim team? No. The first class is $13.00 and it is $10.00
for a drop-in or additional day per swimmer. TOP
- How often are the swim meets? SwimWest hosts an All Center Achievement Swim (SwimWest Olympics)
one Saturday each session, with the exception of summer. The USS meets are as often as you would like to sign up for them.
There are several meets per month that your child/children can swim in as "unattached". All you need to do is fill out the
paperwork and obtain a signature from a SwimWest Sharks certified coach to approve your child's entry, as well as payment
for the meet's entry fees. Check out their website at www.wisconsinswimming.org/meetsch. TOP
- Do we have to pay extra to swim in meets? Yes, there is a nominal fee to swim in each meet along with some
paperwork. If you swim in the SwimWest Olympics, there is either a donation of an item for charity or
a small fee. You can register for those meets at the front desk prior to the meet.TOP
- Who do we compete against? For the USA meets, it will depend on which meet you have chosen to
swim in. We have been invited to join in YMCA meets as well as BAC meets. If you swim in the SwimWest Olympics, you will be competing
against other SwimWest participants with similar skill levels. TOP
- If we join the SwimWest Sharks, do we have to compete? You are not required to compete
as a member of the SwimWest Sharks. Competing is a choice that each swimmer and their parents can make. You are encouraged
to join our internal swim meets (SwimWest Olympics) once per session. TOP
- What are your coach's credentials? Our coaches are certified through the American Swim Coaches Association,
are USA Swimming certified, or are being supervised by USA Swimming Coaches.TOP
- Will my child's coach(es) be at every meet? At least one of the SwimWest Sharks coaches
will be at a meet in which we have at least one swimmer. TOP
- Are we required to purchase a team suit? How much will it cost? If you want to compete
as a SwimWest Shark in a USA meet, it will be required that you purchase a team suit. The cost is $50.00 and will include a suit,
swim cap, and t-shirt. All will have the SwimWest Sharks logo. TOP
- Are parents required to help out at meets? How many? You are more than welcome to volunteer
your services when you sign up for the USA meets as "unattached", but you are not required to do so. However, for the internal SwimWest meets
we do require that you volunteer if your child is competing.TOP
- How is your swim team different from other swim teams? We are different in several ways:
1) We have a maximum of 10 children to one coach at a time.
2) You are not required to come to a certain amount of practices,
but you are welcome to join extra practices if you choose. You can swim anywhere from 1 to 6 days per week.
3) You can choose to attend and take part in swim meets or simply use practices as a time to keep in shape, continue to
develop your stroke, and be a part of the team. TOP
- My child knows how to swim. What is the value of joining swim team? Why should they compete?
Swim team is a great place to continue with stroke development as well as work on the elements of competition (starts,
turns, and relays). It is also a good way to incorporate the atmosphere of a team without necessarily needing to compete.
We are building the skills that will help maintain a healthy lifestyle. Competing is an awesome motivator!
If your child wants to be a better swimmer and is driven by challenge, swim team allows them to not only compete as an
individual, but as a team member as well. TOP
